“Be Mine” Valentine Exhibition
“Be Mine” A special Valentine Exhibition celebrating concepts of love. Love encompasses a range of strong and positive emotional and mental states, from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal affection, to the simplest pleasure. When the words are uttered, “Be mine,” the implied meaning is that you are asking asking someone to be with you, to be yours. For Valentine’s Day 2022, we are offering a special selection of artworks by Front Room artists, and asking “Will you be mine?”

Bears play without vocalizing. One of their favourite plays is jawing – sparring with their open mouths almost touching. Bears communicate through play and relay information by “gaping,” opening its jaws wide in close proximity to another bear’s face. Play is quiet, and play-bites are gentle, peaceful, non-threatening exchanges. Young bears love to play to have fun and to teach themselves survival skills.

In "Chance" Albany based artist, Ken Ragsdale has created a visual conversation which references a historical lithograph of Albany, New York made by J. W. Hill in the 1850's. This work on paper is an original color drawing over a recreation of that print, with added contemporary surrealist elements of a chess board, chair and modernist sculptural form incorporated into a perspectival map of the city.
