For Upstate Art Weekend, Front Room Gallery presents FRONT ROOM GALLERY: EXPANDED FIELD, an indoor and outdoor exhibition in Kingston that engages the landscape and architecture of the site while showcasing the work of original and international artists. This exhibition offers a unique opportunity for visitors to experience contemporary sculpture in both interior and exterior settings, creating a dialogue between the works and their environment.

The outdoor exhibition features large-scale installations by Mark Andreas, Thomas Broadbent, Phillip Buehler and Spencer Tunick, Beth Dary, Ursula Endlicher, Mimi Graminski, Lisa Levy, Sam Tufnell, Kathleen Vance, Petra Valentova, and others.

The indoor exhibition includes contemporary photography, painting, drawing, and installation works by Thomas Broadbent, Sasha Bezzubov, Phillip Buehler, Peggy Cyphers, Lee Day, Debra Drexler, Linda Gangian, Linda Griggs, Sean Hemmerle, Amy Hill, Stephen Mallon, Mark Masyga, Ken Ragsdale, Patricia Smith, Joanne Ungar, Kathleen Vance and Zoe Wetherall.

Together, the indoor and outdoor components create a unified experience that encourages visitors to move between spaces and consider how scale, material, and setting shape perception.

Presented at the historic Friedrich Gross Mansion, a Victorian-era Steamboat Gothic residence, Expanded Field highlights ambitious, site-responsive work while fostering connections across the Hudson Valley arts community.

Expanded Field is presented as part of Upstate Art Weekend, the annual Hudson Valley–wide celebration of contemporary art, culture, and open exhibitions.

Front Room Gallery will host guided tours and walk-throughs of both the outdoor and indoor works, allowing visitors to engage directly with the artists and the dialogue between the spaces.

Kingston’s vibrant arts community makes it an ideal location for this exhibition. Through EXPANDED FIELD, Front Room Gallery presents ambitious, site-responsive work and offers visitors a dynamic encounter with contemporary sculpture, while strengthening connections across the Hudson Valley arts community.
