Mother-in-Laws About

ABOUT MOTHER-IN-LAW’S

Mother-in-Law's is an experimental, installation-based project space in Germantown, New York. Presenting immersive installations, each exhibition transforms the space to meet the vision of one prime, female identifying artist. This environment is used as the basis for a curated, multi-artist exhibition that will revolve around the prime installation. Mother-in-Law’s is directed by Kathleen Vance and Daniel Aycock (of Front Room Gallery) and Jessica Hargreaves.

Located in the hamlet of Germantown in upstate New York, Mother-in-Law’s is set in a converted carriage house, once occupied by the mother (and Mother-in-Law) of the previous residents of the main house on the estate. At one time a town hall, the private home has opened the mother-in-law’s cottage to the public for exhibitions. In honor of the former occupant, Mother-in-Law’s will offer some kind of refreshment or cordial to visitors, as a conceptual compliment to each exhibition.
